Varanger has an old and exciting history. People have lived here since the stone ages. The area has been characterized and shaped by Norwegian, Sami, Finnish and Russian habitants. Around Jakobselv it the Finnish immigrants that have left the biggest trace, as well as World War II. We still have locals in the village that lived through it all and remembers it well. Around the bonfire with coffee and salmon, you get to take part of our history – ask questions and insight to why and how the life in Varanger has evolved.
